Date

June 2025

Location

Chapel Hill, NC

This Chapel Hill mid-century renovation celebrates the era's signature clean lines while embracing the warmth that makes a house feel like home. The exterior's thoughtful mix of gray siding and rich wood accents immediately signals the design direction - sophisticated yet approachable. Inside, I anchored each space with warm wood furniture that speaks to the mid-century aesthetic while keeping the palette fresh and livable. The cane-back dining chairs and walnut credenza feel authentically vintage without being precious, while the geometric rugs add the perfect dose of pattern that mid-century lovers crave. In the living spaces, I layered textures through woven baskets, ceramic vessels, and that sculptural coffee table that honestly makes me smile every time I see it. The kitchen's clean white cabinetry provides breathing room while brass fixtures and warm wood elements maintain the era's sophisticated warmth. For the staging, I filled glass jars with ingredients that speak to my own heritage - creating an authentic, lived-in feeling that goes beyond typical styling. The fresh garlic I sourced from a wonderful woman at the NC State Farmers Market adds that perfect touch of realness that makes potential buyers imagine themselves actually cooking in this space. Each room balances the period's characteristic minimalism with the comfort today's families need, using natural materials and thoughtful styling to create spaces that feel both historically informed and completely current. The result is a home that honors its mid-century bones while inviting modern life to unfold naturally within its walls.
